Requirements
As
members of EC155A and B, I ask that you observe the following ground
rules -- and I promise to observe my own. Your
performance will be assessed through the following composition
of grades
Ground

These ground rules
will help you to achieve excellence in microeconomic reasoning.

1.

Attend and
be engaged in all of the regular course meetings. (Here's a
reminder of the meeting times and
locations.)

2.
|
Read all
assignments and materials distributed in class. Study the the
assigned readings before each class: the pace will be
brisk.
|
|
3.
|
Actively
participate in all of the weekly class discussions.
|
|
4.
|
Complete
and master the problem sets. If it suits you, establish a study
group with some of your colleagues.
|
|
5.
|
Actively
participate in all phases of the group project, and take the time
to develop a good working relationship with the other members
of your group. |
|
6.
|
Come by
Professor Isham's office hours when you have any questions or
concerns that cannot be resolved in class.

Ground rules for professor
|
1.
|
Lead the
regular course meetings so that all students understand the
content (and excitement!) of the material. Assure that during
lecture, all students are able to clarify their questions about
the material and share their insights about the critical concepts.

2.
|
Clarify,
as required, the required assignments and handouts that are
distributed in class.
|
|
3.
|
Lead the
weekly class discussion so that students are able to further
develop a 'real world' feel for the importance of microeconomic
reasoning.
|

4.
|
Design assignments
that are directly related to the course material and that are
helpful for exam preparation. Assure that the assignments are
returned promptly, that their grading criteria are clear, and
that solutions are promptly provided.

5.
|
Write three
exams that are challenging but fair. Assure that the exams are
returned promptly, that their grading criteria are clear, and
that solutions are promptly provided.

6.
|
Be supportive
in resolving all questions and concerns that students express
during class or during office hours.

of Grades
Your
grade will be composed of the following components. 'Class participation'
includes being engaged in the regular give-and-take in lecture; and
actively participating in the discussion sections and in the group
projects.
